The success of our inaugural STEM workshop was made possible through the support of outstanding community partners who share our commitment to empowering young women through education. Their collaboration helped transform this vision into a meaningful learning experience for local girls and their families.
We are deeply grateful to El Centro Multicultural La Familia, a Pontiac-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culturally responsive services that empower individuals and families to thrive.
A special thank you to Mrs. Mónica Fiesco, Éxito Educativo Coordinator, whose encouragement and collaboration were instrumental in making this workshop possible.
Creating opportunities begins with reaching the community. To introduce families to The Young Women in Science Project and encourage participation, Jimena Furie was invited to speak on July 16, 2026, on "Aprendiendo Juntos... ¡Sí Se Puede!", a Spanish-language radio program broadcast by Radio Centro Multicultural.
During the interview, Jimena discussed the importance of exposing girls to STEM at an early age and how hands-on learning experiences can foster curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong interest in science. She also shared the mission of The Young Women in Science Project and invited local families to participate in its inaugural STEM workshop.
The interview helped connect the project with Spanish-speaking families in the community, expanding awareness of the workshop and reinforcing the importance of making STEM education accessible to all. The full interview is available on Spotify.
